Surfing at Polzeath

We all decided that we were going to do something, so we headed down to Polzeath Beach, Me, Buster and his friend Rob hired some foam boards and try to attempt a bit of board surfing. Andy, Bailey and Dan went out in the kayaks and Ed on his board.

The water was still a bit chilly, but as long as you kept moving it wasn't to bad.

When me, Buster and Rob had had enough we headed up to get changed and everyone else was up there, Andy then decided he fancied a try at board surfing and loved it.

On Friday we paddled from Totnes to Dartmouth on the River Dart

We started at high tide and got in at the Steamer Quay car park

I took the P+H Scorpio LV out to decide whether to take it on my Scilly Isles Trip and Andy took the Valley Nordkapp

Cycling - Countess Wear to Exmouth

Me, Steph and Owen cycled from Countess Wear to Exmouth on a very sunny Sunday. We cycled along the cycle route that has had even more sections added to it.

Its a really nice route, the magority of it is either tarmac or wooden raised area's, with very little of it on busy roads.

When we got to Exmouth we had some will deserved cheesy chips and a good drink of water and headed back to Exeter again, we stopped off in Topsham for a quick cider and then headed all the way back to Countess Weir.

I got back feeling a little stiff and with a slightly sore bum, we worked out that we cycled around 15 miles so no wonder!

Exeter Quay to Topsham and back

On Friday after work me and Ewart headed for a paddle down the River Exe to Topsham, its a really nice paddle, very scenic and peaceful. When we got to Topsham we had some fish and chips to fuel our paddle back up again.

We paddled over to the ferry steps and crossed over to the Canal, we got in just below the Topsham Lock Cottage and paddle our way back up the Canal.

It took us around 2 1/2 hours to do the round trip plus a bit of extra time for dinner.

We made it back to the shop at 9ish.

Bivying out on Dartmoor

Me and Andy decided that we were gonna test out our new bivy bags, so we got our housemate Sarah to kindly drive us up to Venford Reservoir, we then walked from the car park up towards a rocky out crop, found a sheltered spot from the wind then set up out mats, sleeping bags and bivy bags.

We played a couple of rounds of cards while we waited for the sun to go down, then laid back and whats the stars come out, it was very peaceful and a totally clear sky so we could see all the stars coming out

I woke up feeling a little damp, where the condensation on the inside of my bivy bag had started to come through my sleeping bag, I'd also managed to wake myself up alot during the night by having to check that there were no animals wondering round.

When we got up and packed our stuff up i had a quick wonder to stretch my legs out and saw a dear wondering around about 20 feet from me

When had a spot of breakie and started on our walk home, we headed down a very steep hill then walked down beside the River Dart (on river right) it was a lovely peaceful walk, because it was so early there wasn't anyone around until we got to Newbridge. Then then headed through the country park and back home ready for lunch

Summer Plans

I managed to get myself onto a trip Sea Kayaking round the Isles of Scilly at the end of June.

Happy days, 7 days paddling round the Isles of Scilly.

I've been there camping when i was younger and always wanted to explore it further and this is my perfect chance.
